Being Seen Québec Report

Coalition M.É.D.I.A. and Black on Black Films, in collaboration with the Black Screen Office (BSO), are proud to announce the launch of the Being Seen Québec Report. The document presents 16 constructive directives to guide all stakeholders in creating more inclusive content and establishing environments where Black and racialized creatives can thrive.

The Canadian Media Producers Association (CMPA) released “Profile 2025”, an economic report on the screen-based media production industry in Canada. Compiling data from a variety of sources, this edition of Profile also includes, for the first time, data on Indigenous production volume in Canada.

STORYHIVE Three-Part Docuseries Edition is offering new and emerging filmmakers in B.C. and Alberta $20,000 to produce a three-episode documentary series that amplifies a story that’s meaningful to their local community. Selected projects will also receive professional mentorship and distribution support. No experience is required. Apply before midnight PT on May 14, 2026.

SJIWFF Producers Cohort

The SJIWFF Producers Cohort is a new national development program supporting women and gender-diverse producers ready to advance their practice and expand their impact. It combines targeted virtual group labs and individualized mentorship, culminating with an in-person industry intensive at our 37th annual Festival & Film Industry Forum in October.
